St. Rose Receives $126,200 from the Harrah's Foundation
On August 6, 2008, the Harrah's Foundation donated $126,200 to St. Rose Dominican Health Foundation in support of the Hispanic Communication and Outreach Initiative at St. Rose Hospitals. Funds will be specifically applied to the publication of a Spring '09 Spanish-language WomensCare Magazine; the employment of a Spanish-speaking health educator; marketing/media outreach; and, sponsorship of Hispanic-focused health fairs and community events.
The aim of the Hispanic Initiative is to serve individuals with a Latino background by increasing awareness of culturally responsive healthcare resources, creating educational opportunities that reflect linguistic differences, and providing services and programs specific to the needs and interests of Hispanic community groups.
This gift is the third such grant to the St. Rose Dominican Health Foundation. "We are thrilled to once again have the confidence of Harrah's Foundation expressed in additional support for the Hispanic Initiative," states Foundation President, Charles Guida. "The real benefit is to our community. St. Rose is appreciative to Harrah's Foundation for this continued opportunity to impact the delivery of services."
Harrah's Foundation was established to provide financial support to qualified organizations in communities where Harrah's employees live and work.
