Making A Difference…
Marlene and Andy Wheeler are well known in the Las Vegas community having founded Wheeler’s Las Vegas RV in 1982, then owning and managing the company for more than 20 years. “Our family has been very fortunate, and we want to give back to the community that has been good to us,” said Marlene Wheeler. Over the years, the Wheeler’s generous, compassionate giving has funded diagnostic equipment, sponsored volunteer appreciation programs and assisted the hospital’s Pet Therapy Program.
Their latest two gifts were focused on education of nurses. “The nursing shortage in the Las Vegas valley is critical,” said Andy Wheeler. “It is our hope these gifts will increase the number of nursing students at Nevada State College by providing funding for tuition, books and other related expenses.” Funds are available to deserving nursing students who have been accepted in the Registered Nurse Program at Nevada State College as well as to currently employed Registered Nurses at St. Rose Dominican Hospitals who wish to pursue their Bachelors of Science in Nursing at Nevada State College.
“Hopefully someday, if we ever have to be in the hospital, we will have educated people looking after us. The only way we can make a difference is by putting our money where our mouth is,” said Marlene.
