Kasner Family Foundation with van

Thank you, Kasner Family Foundation!

When the Kasner Family Foundation awarded Helping Hands of Henderson (HHH) a generous grant, celebration was in the air at St. Rose.

HHH is a transportation and nutrition program St. Rose Dominican Hospital operates. The program provides residents 60 years+ with transportation to medical appointments, meals in Henderson, grocery shopping, and other errands.

"After learning about the program from Board member Karen Ross, all nine of our Board members were happy to support Helping Hands of Henderson," shares Alison Kasner, who co-founded the Kasner Family Foundation with her husband, Bob.

Jennifer Trinkle, St. Rose’s manager of Helping Hands, and her team were overjoyed at the generous donation. “We have an aging fleet of vans, so this new and upgraded van has made a huge impact. Everyone wants to ride in it!” She adds, “Our drivers often form a close relationship with our clients, so this program starts with transportation, but often becomes about personal connection. Many of our seniors moved to our community from out of state and have no family here. Their drivers become friends and provide emotional support as well.”

"This is an important program, and I know this van will help thousands of seniors in the long term. But if this van allowed even one more person to get to a medical appointment, that would keep them healthy - that's why we give. We also respect the relationship that seniors develop with their drivers. One consistent contact in a person's life may be life-sustaining for that senior." Bob Kasner adds, "This program fits very well with what we do as a Foundation."

By supporting senior transportation needs, the Kasner Family Foundation is helping more seniors to remain independent and avoid costly, long-term, out-of-home care. HHH staff members and volunteers serve hundreds of seniors annually, and this generous grant addresses the great demand for their services.

"We have great respect for the very caring team that runs Helping Hands, and know the new van will positively impact seniors and our community," Alison Kasner concluded.

St. Rose has a deep sense of gratitude and sincere appreciation for the caring people of the Kasner Family Foundation! Thank you, Bob and Alison.
